Marcus Amaker Announces Creation of Charleston's First Poetry Festival

Marcus Amaker, Charleston's first poet laureate, has announced the creation of Free Verse, the city's first poetry festival.

The event will be held in October and will include events and workshops at multiple venues in Downtown and West Ashley. There are also plans to put poets in Charleston County schools to promote the power of the written word to students. Events and workshops will be announced in August.
