Suspicious Package Found In Red Top
Multiple local news organizations are reporting that the Red Top Parade has been delayed while police investigate a suspicious package. A vehicle near the Red Top Community Center is the source of the concern. Police received reports that the vehicle may have explosives in the trunk. Old Charleston Road between U.S. Highway 17 and Main Road has been closed to traffic while the county bomb squad works the scene.
The parade which was scheduled to start at 10 am, has been pushed back indefinitely.
UPDATE, 11:14 am: The scene has been cleared.
UPDATE, 2:03 pm: According to ABC News 4, 71-year-old Matthew Polite Jr. was charged with one count of communicating a bomb threat.
