Men Don High Heels for “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” This Saturday
My Sister’s House is hosting the 2013 Tri-county “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” event this Saturday from 9 am until noon at the Park Circle Community Center in North Charleston.
Organizers are looking for male volunteers to “march against domestic violence and sexual assault – while wearing women’s high-heeled shoes.” Walk A Mile in Her Shoes is an international event, created in 2001 in an effort to “promote men’s participation in speaking out against domestic and sexual violence”.
All funds from the event will benefit My Sister’s House, which directly helps victims of domestic violence and their children.
Tickets are $25 for individuals and $20 each for a group of 5 or more. For tickets and/or more information, click here.
At the conclusion of the walk, organizers will hold “Take a Look at Her Journey”, a domestic violence awareness and education event. The free gathering will include food, a guest speaker, educational displays, children’s activities, prizes, and more.
