Charleston native Stephen Colbert added to his impressive collection of awards with another Emmy win last night. His show, The Colbert Report, won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series.
Colbert's victory became one of the unintended highlights of last night's Emmy Award broadcast after presenter Gwen Stefani called the show "The Colbort Report." Her mispronunciation set off a series of improvised moments between Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Colbert.
Fallon interrupted the award presentation saying, "This is unbelievable, she said it wrong, so there must be a mistake...I want to see the envelope.” Colbert then handed the Emmy to Fallon and began whispering his acceptance speech into Fallon's ear. You can see the whole thing unfold in the video below.
By the way, The Colbert Report also won in the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series category.
