The 8th Annual Gourmet & Grapes Weekend

29813291111523620The 8th Annual Gourmet & Grapes Weekend kicks off on Thursday, February 18th at The Sanctuary on the property of the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The food and wine-based event raises funds and awareness for research and patient programs at the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The weekend will once again feature many events for attendees to choose from:

Thursday, February 18th

  • Gourmet & Grain - $200
    (VERY LIMITED TICKETS) | Cherrywood BBQ & Ale House, Osprey Point | 6:30pm

    Begin your culinary journey on Thursday evening with our newest event, Bourbon and BBQ! Mingle with Pitmaster/Chef Daniel Coulter as he shares his take on down-home Southern BBQ, house-smoked over local hardwoods. Sip on premium bourbons including a vertical of Pappy Van Winkles during a six course tasting that complements the swine, and allow bourbon experts to take you on a guided tour of the bourbon palate.

Friday, February 19th

  • An Epicurean Affair — $250 until December 2015 | $300 January 2016
    The Ocean Room, The Sanctuary | 6:30pm

    Savor this elegant black-tie dining experience in The Sanctuary's signature dining room, The Ocean Room. The evening will headline Chef Steven Greene and three, James Beard Award Nominees; Colin Bedford, Mike Lata and Curtis Duffy, a 3-Star Michelin Chef from Grace Restaurant in Chicago. This five star evening will feature world class wines from Drouhin Winery, in Burgundy, France. Laurent Drouhin will be joining us to talk about his pairings.

Saturday, February 20th

  • Gourmet Culinary Luncheon - $150
    The Ocean Room, The Sanctuary | 11:30am

    Exquisite culinary demonstration and elegant multi-course luncheon in the picturesque Ocean Room restaurant will feature three-time James Beard Award Nominee for Best Chef Southeast, Anthony Lamas of Seviche Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. Our guest chef will demonstrate the preparation of the dishes while Jeremy Weintraub of Adelaida Cellars Winery pours specially selected wines for each course.
  • A Tasting Experience By Riedel — $75 ($50 for those attending lunch)
    The Sanctuary | 2:30pm
    After lunch attend an exclusive afternoon of stemware focused wine tasting and education with Riedel! This seminar will demonstrate that the right wine glass really does make a difference in the aroma, taste and appreciation of a wine. Join us as we taste four wines through four distinct glasses, two white stems and two red. As a parting favor, all of our attendees will take home their tasting glasses so they can swirl, sip and savor again and again!
  • Wine Odyssey Gala — $200 until December 2015 | $250 Beginning January 2016
    The Terrace Ballroom, The Sanctuary | 6:30pm

    Allow your palate to combine the flavors of the east and west. Meet the east coast chefs and taste their unique creations while sipping on distinctive wines from the west coast at this main event and auction gala. Then, dance the night away with a champagne and chocolate afterglow.

Sunday, February 21st

  • Farewell Brunch - $100
    The Ocean Room, The Sanctuary | 10:30am - 1:00pm

    Celebrate the weekend and salute the chefs at this seaside brunch featuring the chefs of Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Sponsored by Charleston Magazine.
  • Gourmet & Grapes Golf — $200/per player
    Kiawah Island | 10:00am

    After a full weekend of wining and dining, step out onto the golf course for the second annual Gourmet & Grapes Golf Outing. Players can register as singles or by teams.
