Leftovers: Tidbits from the Food & Bev Community (5/10/16)

  1. On Sunday, May 15th from 3pm-6pm, Ms. Rose's Fine Food & Cocktails will host a Pig Pickin with Lowcountry fare, live music, and face-painting for the kids. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children (5-12 years old) and include food, drinks (iced tea and water), plus two beer or wine tickets for adults. Click here for tickets.

  2. Hall Management Group has named Zachary Dennis as new general manager at High Cotton.
  3. Charleston’s Virgil Kaine and Bar Mash, will host a New Orleans style takeover on Tuesday, May 10th at 11 pm. Open to all food and drink enthusiasts, the event serves as the finale to the United States Bartenders Guild's (USBG) Southeast Conference (5/8-5/10). The takeover includes a New Orleans style brass band along with cocktails and bites from Bar Mash.

  4. The Rusty Rudder will host (along with Black Goldfish Designer Dionne Gada) a North Mount Pleasant Farmers Market every Sunday through October from 11 am to 3 pm. The market will include free parking, live music, children's activities, Gruber Farms, and more than 20 vendors, artists, and crafters. Click here for more information.

  5. Big Billy's Burger Joint in North Charleston is now offering half price burgers on Thursdays.
  6. Caviar & Bananas has announced it will open its fifth location - and its first location outside of South Carolina - in Nashville in 2017.
    1. They also announced that their new Director of Marketing is Ashley Warnock.
  7. Wild Dunes Resort recently announced the opening of Coastal Provisions, its new nautical-themed restaurant in The Boardwalk Inn. A press release described the new entity as an "upscale seafood and chop house style eatery" that is open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner. Reservations may be made here.
