On Thursday, June 16th, the Summerville Dorchester Museum will host a book signing with Dr. Bernard Powers, Jr., Herb Frazier, and Marjory Wentworth, authors of We Are Charleston. The even twill take place from 5 pm until 8 pm.
The book tells the story of the Emanuel 9 tragedy and the history of the AME church. You can buy event tickets and reserve your copy here.
Some background on the writers:
- Frazier is an award-winning journalist and childhood member of Mother Emanuel
- Dr. Powers is an A.M.E. Church member and professor of history at the College of Charleston
- Wentworth is South Carolina’s Poet Laureate
