Did you know the National Theatre of London performs each month right here in Charleston? Well, sort of. Along with 34 West's live musicals and comedies, like Addicted to Love (now through Sept 24), the troupe also features live-recorded broadcasts of some of the finest theatre London has to offer.
From acclaimed performances of Benedict Cumberbatch to Helen Mirren, these “screenings” have quickly become a hot ticket in the Low Country.
“Word of mouth about these has been fantastic,” states 34 West Artistic Director Jeff Querin. “It's an incredible opportunity to see some of the best theatre recently produced in London.”
34 West will present Helen Mirren's multi-award-winning performance of The Audience on August 14th and 15th. The coming months will also feature Mark Strong in A View From The Bridge, (Sept 18-19), Benedict Cumberbatch in Frankenstein (October 30-31) and Hamlet (Nov 28-29) and the internationally-acclaimed War Horse (Dec 11-12). For a complete listing of upcoming screenings, visit www.34west.org/screenings.
Beers, wines, sodas, and champagne cocktails are all available for purchase at the venue.
The 50 seat theater hosts screenings each month. Tickets are $20. For tickets and more information about all their upcoming screenings and productions, visit www.34west.org or call (843) 901-9343.
