On Sunday, January 1st at 12 pm, the 4th annual Bill Murray Look-a-Like Polar Bear Plunge will take place in front of the Tides Hotel on Folly Beach. As you can probably tell from the event's title, the event will once again pay homage to the Holy City’s favorite resident - Mr. Bill Murray.
All attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Murray character and prepare to “freeze their Bills off.” Registration begins at 11 am while the Look-a-Like Contest begins at 12 pm. A panel of judges will give out awards for Best Guy, Best Girl, Best Team, and Best Overall Bill Murray. The plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean goes down at 1 pm.
Plenty of Folly restaurants and bars will be open early so guests can enjoy some pre-plunge drinks. Participating businesses include: Blu, Tides, Sand Dollar, Loggerhead's, St. James Gate, Snapper Jack's, Bert's, Taco Boy, Surf Bar, Crab Shack, Woody's, Planet Follywood, The Drop In, Jack of Cups, The Washout, and the Lost Dog Cafe. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Folly Beach charities.
