On August 21st, The Bend, a 17-acre waterfront property, will host "Total Solar Eclipse in North Charleston: Look to the Sky!," a free celebration in North Charleston. The event will run from noon until 4 pm.
The celebration will feature:
- A live performance from Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, a Grammy Award-winning family hip-hop artist
- Lowcountry STEM Collaborative activities including a robotics demonstration, paper airplane building projects, a 3D modeler demonstration, and a live feed of drone flights
- Programming from Boeing, including their longest ever trebuchet launch, robotics demonstration, paper airplane building projects, a 3D modeler demonstration, and a live feed of drone flights
- Charleston County School District North Charleston Kaleidoscope and College of Charleston Astronomy Department
- Special guest Elizabeth Joyner of NASA’s Langley Research Center educating guests about the total eclipse
- Live feed of NASA launching their high altitude balloons in Charleston
