Southern Flame Food & Music Festival Returns to Summerville on 4/28
The 8th annual Southern Flame Food and Music Festival will be held at The Ponds in Summerville on Saturday, April 28th from 11 am to 8 pm. The festival is a family-friendly event featuring barbecue cooked by competitive teams, music from bluegrass bands, dancing, and more.
The award-winning Lonesome River Band will headline the event from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. The group is led by Sammy Shelor, a five-time International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year and winner of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass.
The barbecue competition is sanctioned by the Southern BBQ Network and awards will be presented by judges who are accredited by the organization.
The Southern Flame Festival benefits the Summerville Miracle League (SML), a non-profit organization with the sole mission of affording opportunities for all persons with special needs in the Dorchester County. One of the most well-known programs of SML is their adaptive baseball program. The festival is the organization’s only annual fundraising event.
All day parking is $10 per car. Food and beverage tickets are available for purchase at $1 each. Using tickets, guests have their choice of barbecue taste samples from the cook teams, hamburgers, hot dogs, non-alcoholic beverages, and beers.
