The South Carolina Aquarium today announced a release party for What the Shell!, a pilsner-style beer brewed locally by Pawleys Island Brewing Company. The event will take place on Saturday, June 2 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Pawleys Island Brewing Company.
The release party will feature live music, a food truck, a bounce house, and a special kids’ activity provided by the Aquarium (while supplies last).
According to a press release, What the Shell! is an nontraditional pilsner dry hopped with Mosaic and Callista, giving it a sweet, berry aroma upfront with a crisp, bitter finish. The beer will be available in the tasting room at Pawleys Island Brewing Company and in select local restaurants. A portion of proceeds from sales of What the Shell! will benefit the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center.
