The 2019 After Hours series at the South Carolina Aquarium kicks off on Friday, February 1st with the 5th Annual Oysterfest. The all-inclusive event features sustainable oysters, chili, chowder, a beer and wine bar, and up-close animal encounters.
Reel Time Charters is providing fresh, local oysters which will be roasted by Charleston Outdoor Catering. Sample bowls of chili and chowder will be served up by ACME Lowcountry Kitchen, The Mills House, Charleston Harbor Fish House, Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar, CRU Catering, and B. Gourmet Catering.
All of the restaurants, caterers, and purveyors providing dishes for Oysterfest are South Carolina Aquarium Good Catch partners. Good Catch generates awareness and leads communities in support of local fisheries and consumption of responsible harvested seafood. Good Catch partners have committed to serving a higher percentage of sustainable seafood sourced from southeast regional fisheries.
Tickets to the all-inclusive event are $50 and can be purchased at scaquarium.org/afterhours. Oyster enthusiasts may prefer the VIP ticket option for $75 that includes early access to oysters, a commemorative oyster shucker, and a private beer and wine bar. Oysterfest begins at 7:30 pm and will be held rain or shine at the South Carolina Aquarium.
Oysterfest is part of After Hours, a series of evening events at the South Carolina Aquarium exclusively for adults aged 21 and up. Upcoming events include the Carolina Wine Mixer (May 17th), Jazz on the Harbor (June 7th), Beer from Here (August 16th), and Southern Spirits (October 25th).
