Welcome to the Weekend Buzz on Holy City Sinner. Here's what's happening the third full weekend of March 2019. The following is a list of just a few events and happenings you might want to take part in during the weekend. Consider the list a cornucopia of happenings around the low country of Charleston. The Charleston Music Hall is busy this weekend. 8pm Friday night the CMH & Zandrina Dunning present 'Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin featuring Black Diamond'. The North Charleston Coliseum complex is busy this weekend. Hockey, music, and comedy abound this weekend. Friday night your South Carolina Stingrays play host to the Kansas City Mavericks. The puck drops at 7pm. On Saturday at the PAC come out for legendary singer songwriter Jackson Browne. His concert begins at 8pm with tickets starting at $49. Frothy Beard Brewing Company at 1401 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard is hosting a Six Year Celebration on Saturday 11-11pm. Come celebrate the with them & support a great cause as well as we are hosting a huge fundraiser for TJ Sigmon. There will be a Silent Auction with hundreds of amazing items from Tattoo gift certificates, Trips to the Caribbean signed guitar from music legends and signed balls from sports legends just to name a few. On Saturday Pawleys Island Brewing Company, 2668 Industrial Ave in N. Charleston host a Beer Release and Cornhole Tournament from 4-8pm. Tickets available for purchase for VIP and Cornhole Tournament. Taproom and food truck are open to the general public. Cornhole registration available day-of, but is a limited amount of entrants. Pet lovers take note. Brittlebank Park, Lockwood Drive is the host site for Woofstock: A Lowcountry Dog Music Festival. Lowcountry Dog Magazine along with Charleston Parks Conservancy and The Bridge 105.5 brings you WOOFSTOCK: A Lowcountry Dog Music Festival on Saturday 11-7pm at Brittlebank Park. Gates open at 11:00 am and features 7 bands, food trucks, local vendors and 6 local rescue groups.

The SC Aquarium present Saltwater Sounds this Saturday beginning at 9:30am-Noon. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium in this family friendly event, to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children. The 4th annual ART IN THE BARN takes place Saturday 11 to 6 (From 2 to 5 Live music and refreshments) and on Sunday 12 noon to 4 at the Ruby Ranch, 1556 Tacky Point Road, Wadmalaw Island. The Exchange Park-Charleston's Alternative Venue at 9850 Highway 78 in Ladson host the Vintage Market Days of Charleston Fri-Sun. 10-5pm Fri & Sat, & 10-4pm Sun. Admission is $10. Admission for children under 12 is free. Cash and credit card are accepted at the gate. Once purchased, your ticket is good for re-entry into the event all weekend.
On Saturday from 11-7pm Soundwave Comics, 2139 North Main Street, Unit B in Summerville host Soundwaves Detective Comics 1000 Celebration! A milestone in comic book history takes place this year in March of 2019. DC’s Detective Comics reaches its 1000th issue, marking only the second time to happen in American history. Back in 1939, Detective Comics saw the debut of Batman, Gotham’s Dark Knight, a pop culture icon, and national phenomenon.
The Sound of Charleston, the city's longest running musical production, has been performing continuously since 2010. The shows feature the music of Charleston's history, from gospel to Gershwin, including spirituals, Civil War camp songs, Gullah, jazz, Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Porgy and Bess", composed locally on Folly Beach, and light classics of the St. Cecelia Society, one of America's foremost social and cultural organizations. Looking for something different. The Alley Charleston, 131 Columbus St host a Winter 2019 SundayFunday Bumpers & Brunch Bowling League on Sunday 1-4pm. Teams of 6 will bowl in their social bowling league on Sunday afternoons. You can register team of six, smaller groups 2-5 bowlers, or come in as a free agent. Several local wine shops offer wine tastings on Friday night to kick off TGIF. Over in Mt. Pleasant join Des at Crushed Fine Wine at 716 S Shelmore Blvd from 5-7pm as he hosts locals and samples some of the finest wines from around the world and different regions of America. Pure Theatre present 'Small Mouth Sounds' at the Cannon Street Art Center, 134 Cannon Street. In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six runaways from city life embark on a silent retreat. As these strangers confront internal demons both profound and absurd, their vows of silence collide with the achingly human need to connect. Footlight Players 20 Queen Street begin their run of 'Death of a Salesman'. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play, Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman is the epic American drama. Centering around Willy Loman facing the end of his career and struggling to keep his family together, Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman explores a landscape of unrealized hopes and asks what happens when you are written out of the American Dream. Charleston Stage in residence at Dock Street Theatre present 'Steel Magnolias'. Truvy, Ouiser, Clairee, M'Lynn, Annelle, and Shelby have gathered once again at Truvy's Beauty Parlor to primp, gossip, and spar with one another. As hair is teased, blow-dried, and permed, the comic sparks fly in this hilarious and beloved classic Southern comedy. 34 West Theatre Co. at 200 Meeting Street present 'Power of Love'. America's sweetheart hires the city's worst detective agency. Very little out this weekend at the box office. New at the box office this weekend include 'Us'. Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. Stars Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss.
