Itinerant Literate Books to Celebrate Indie Book Store Day with Specials, Discounts, Prizes, & More

Itinerant Literate Books in Park Circle invites the community to join them for Independent Bookstore Day, a one-day national party celebrating independent bookstores and the readers that support them. Their celebration will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 10 am to 11 pm.

Day-long events and Specials include:

  • Backyard Scavenger Hunt (for Kids)
  • Book Nerd Olympics - Try your hand at Scrabble, Bananagrams, and more
  • Crafts - Stripped Book Arts, Coloring Station, Black Out Poetry
  • Shelf Talker Station: See a book you love and want to tell the world? Write a 2-3 sentence review and the store will feature it in the store with your picture

Scheduled highlights include:

  • 11 am - Flash Fiction Workshop
    • Learn the art of Flash Fiction - complete stories in less than 1,000 words - with local author Amy Hudock
    • RSVP required
  • 12 pm - Lowcountry Folklore & Folktales with Julian Gooding
  • 1:30 pm - Tumbling Tale Story Time & Tumbling with Grassroots Gymnastics
  • 3 pm - Mini Lectures
    • Local scholars and experts will give quick lectures on literature and pop culture
    • Dr. Licia Hendriks - “Poetic Justice: The Nexus of Art and Activism”
    • Dr. Thomas Horan - "Desire & Empathy in Dystopian Fiction"
  • 4 pm - Love Local Scavenger Hunt
    • Meet at the Bookstop for the first clue; be the first team to find all the clues hidden at local Park Circle businesses and win a gift bag featuring local favorites from the neighborhood

  • 8 pm - Fourth Annual StorySlam
    • Itinerant Literate will host its Fourth Annual StorySlam, a local author live storytelling event
