The 13th annual Charleston Duck Race for charity will be held on Saturday, June 1st at Smythe Lake Park on Daniel Island beginning at 5 pm. Proceeds from the sale of ducks will support Charleston area charities and service projects.
The event includes cash prizes, games, jump castles, face painters, music, food vendors, live music, and of course, the rubber duck race. Charlestonians can “adopt” a duck (or ducks) and win cash prizes for a top-tier finish. Approximately 30,000 rubber ducks will be dropped into the Smythe Park Lake with prizes awarded for the first 7 ducks to cross the finish line. First prize is $10,000!
The proceeds from the annual event are used to fund Rotary community service programs locally and around the world. Each of the participating clubs designates one or more Lowcountry charities as named beneficiaries of the Duck Race. These charities represent a wide selection of local nonprofit organizations focused on health and wellness, hunger and nutrition, housing and shelter, children and families, and education and literacy. Since the Race's inception, the event has raised over $1.5 million for local beneficiaries and Rotary projects worldwide.
