Cammie’s International Food & Grocery is hosting their first Back-To-School Block Party to celebrate the launch of their new food truck. The event is taking place on
Sunday, July 21st, Wednesday, August 21st starting at 1 pm, at their grocery store at 4501 Dorsey Avenue in North Charleston.
Cammie’s has been in the Charleston area for over 20 years, with their sister company, B&B Island Cafe, as Charleston’s only Caribbean and West Indian Grocery Store. The business offers a number of natural foods and products, health tonics, and foods, with their new food truck offering a variety of Caribbean food.
This is the first major event the establishment has hosted in the Charleston area, which they hope to be the start of a new bond between them and the Lowcountry. Along with the food truck serving food to attendees, Cammie’s will be disbursing school supplies to students and families in need.
“We personally feel it’s our duty to make sure the children, of the communities we serve, are well prepared to start the school year,” owner Roger Cameron said. “I’ve come across so many families and parents that just don’t have the means to get their child what they need for the school year. This is our way of lifting everyone up, and giving these parents and kids the boost they need, in confidence and so much more.”
The event will also feature other local businesses as vendors selling items, and sharing information on who they are, and what they can offer. Other local establishments on Dorsey Avenue will be offering discounted services to attendees as well, including free car washes, and oil changes, for anyone who brings their supplies.
Members of the community, and other businesses, are welcome to drop off school supply donations for the event at 4501 Dorsey Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.
