The team behind Chicago's highly-anticipated restaurant opening, Chef's Special Cocktail Bar, is coming to the Holy City for a one-night-only dinner at Leon's Oyster Shop on Thursday, July 25th. The group says they will offer a menu of “refreshing summer libations and spicy American-Chinese dishes.”
The pop-up is the brainchild of Leon's general manager Noah Singerman, a longtime friend and former colleague of Chase Bracamontes, the beverage manager at Chef's Special. The two worked together at The Dutch in New York and have been friends ever since.
Chefs Tom Scodari and Aaron Kabot from Chef's Special will share the kitchen with the Leon's crew to prepare dishes from their American-Chinese menu, including Summer Melon & Cucumber; Pork & Shrimp Wontons with spicy crab fat and roasted corn; and their “Chef's Special,” a dry chili chicken with rice along with a housemade condiment for Leon's signature oyster on the half shell dish. These dishes are available a la carte or as a “Try Them All” option for $60.
Guests will find Bracamontes behind the bar, where she will shake up some of her signature drinks including “Echo Beach,” with aperol, banana, manzanilla sherry, lime, cava; “Toe Rings & Tan Lines,” with tequila, mango, absinthe, lemon, chamomile; and “Yesterday Man” with rye whiskey, cynar, yellow chartreuse, jasmine.
No reservations are required for the Chef's Special dinner. Dinner service begins at 5 pm and the dishes and drinks will be served a la carte along with Leon's regular menu. All summer long, Leon's will offer the Chef's Special drink, “Rinse and Repeat,” a spritz with cava, amaro, cassis and lime.
Chef's Special will open in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood later this summer.
