Welcome to the Weekend Buzz on Holy City Sinner. Here's what's happening the third full weekend of August 2019. The following is a list of just a few events and happenings you might want to take part in during the weekend. Consider the list a cornucopia of happenings around the Lowcountry of Charleston. Friday night it's time for another Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series at James Island County Park featuring traditional old school roots reggae with a new school attitude in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring your chairs or blanket. It’s Irie. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.; music begins at 8 p.m. Gates close at 10:30 p.m., and concerts end at 11 p.m. Mystic Vibrations perform this time around. The Charleston Music Hall is busy this weekend. On Saturday Yonderfield in Bowman SC (minutes off I-26 south of Orangeburg) host the Root's n' Boots & Hot Air Balloon Festival. Gates open at 3pm. Legendary country music artists Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye, and Sammy Kershaw perform with opening acts Crawford & Power, and the Bootleg Band. Your Charleston Riverdogs host Kannapolis this weekend at The Joe. Friday's game is 7pm followed by fireworks show. Saturday enjoy a post game 1000 T-Shirt Drop. Game time is 6pm. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens 3550 Ashley River Road is the host location for the SC REGGAE JERK WINE FESTIVAL on Sunday 12-7pm. This is an awesome three events in One Bundle, a celebration of Jamaican Jerk foods paired with wine, Reggae Music experience, and stroll of the beautiful world-renowned Magnolia Gardens while benefiting a good cause. Tickets $25-$40. Part Proceeds benefit Healthy Lifestyle Network and the Shelton Project as they fight childhood sexual abuse in Jamaica.

On Saturday 9am-6pm Brittlebank Park  Lockwood Blvd, Charleston is the host site for the Charleston Royal Princess Ball. A day of magical fun for the whole family, brought to you by Dream Parties! You’ll get an amazing opportunity to meet and greet your favorite princesses! Race For The ARK is turning 20 this year. Come on out and join the fun on Saturday. The race includes a 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run - both races begin and end at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 206 Central Ave. The 5K begins at 7:45 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run kicks off at 8:45 a.m. Race takes place from St. Luke's Lutheran Church 206 Central Ave, Summerville. On Sunday take part in Hot Nights in the Holy City at Middleton Place Restaurant. To commemorate the end of summer, Middleton Place Restaurant will present a menu of sustainably caught seafood dishes paired with heat quenching local brews in the Pavilion courtyard! Event 6-9pm. Charleston Parks & Recreation host Cast Off Fishing Tournaments throughout the summer. Join them at the Mount Pleasant Pier and the Folly Beach Pier for a season of fishing tournaments! Freshfields Village at Kiawah & Seabrook Island entrances continue the Music on the Green Summer Series this weekend with a bang. This Friday night it's Shem Creek Boogie Band.. The event is complimentary and family-friendly. Vendors will be set up with food and beverages for purchase. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Beat the heat at The Alley 131 Columbus Street downtown this summer as they bring you the coolest Sunday Funday in town! They've got you covered with a half-price extravaganza featuring refreshing drink and food specials that can't be beat anywhere in Charleston. For more call 843-818-4080

Your Charleston County Waterparks are open this weekend. They include Whirlin' Waters at Wannamaker in N. Charleston, Splash Island at Palmetto Island County in Mt. Pleasant, and Splash Zone at James Island County Park. The three parks will open daily at the end of May and beginning of June. The Summerville Farmers Market brings local farmers, artisans, food trucks with live music to the historic downtown. The weekly event runs every Saturday from April to November. 8AM-1PM. Located behind Town Hall in historic downtown.

Shop the Charleston Farmers Market. Every SATURDAY 8-2pm, Marion Square becomes the meeting place for visitors and locals alike to enjoy fresh local produce, made-to-order brunch, packaged food products, artisans & crafters, live music, community groups, jump castles and more!

The Charleston City Night Market is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from March - December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 - 10:30pm and is a free event that is open to the public. Enjoy live entertainment and a festive atmosphere. You'll love being outdoors at twilight and strolling through our three block-long market. All vendors are 100% local with 100% locally-made items for sale. If you are looking for a uniquely Charleston souvenir or piece of artwork, this is the place to be!

Car enthusiasts enjoy Mt. P Cars & Coffee every Saturday morning 8-11am at Mount Pleasant Towne Center in the Barnes & Noble parking lot.

The Sound of Charleston, the city's longest running musical production, has been performing continuously since 2010. The shows feature the music of Charleston's history, from gospel to Gershwin, including spirituals, Civil War camp songs, Gullah, jazz, Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Porgy and Bess", composed locally on Folly Beach, and light classics of the St. Cecelia Society, one of America's foremost social and cultural organizations. Several local wine shops offer wine tastings on Friday night to kick off TGIF. Over in Mt. Pleasant join Des at Crushed Fine Wine at 716 S Shelmore Blvd from 5-7pm as he hosts locals and samples some of the finest wines from around the world and different regions of America. Join PURE Theatre 134 Cannon Street as it celebrates the world premiere of Last Rites by Randy Neale. It's the second day of the Detroit riots, in the summer of 1967. In the epicenter of the riot, three people take refuge from the chaos in a gas station. As the violence mounts outside, tensions rise inside as the three consider the harsh nature of loss and the inevitable combustibility of their differences. Footlight Players 20 Queen Street present 'Head Over Heels, A New Musical',  Spend this summer enjoying a 'Vacation' from the heat at the Queen Street Playhouse where 'We Got the Beat' with a brand new musical fresh-from-Broadway set to the music of 80's icons The Go-Go's. Midtown Productions present Roald Dahl's 'Matilda', with weekend shows running Aug 9-25. Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Woolfe Street Playhouse 34 Woolfe Street The Village Repertory Co is pleased to present Tennessee Williams’ Summer and Smoke' at the historic Woolfe Street Playhouse as the Season 19 opener.Summer and Smoke is set in Glorious Hill, Mississippi, and centers on Alma Winemiller, a highly strung, unmarried minister’s daughter, and the spiritual romance that nearly blossoms between her and John Buchanan Jr., a wild, undisciplined young doctor who grew up next door. 34 West Theatre Co. at 200 Meeting Street present 'Simply Irresistible''. The faculty of Arden High return for a new year of love and detention. But does Cathy hear wedding bells? The Black Fedora 164 Church Street downtown, offers clean comic whodunit shows most evenings, featuring volunteer audience participation and a la carte appetizers, desserts, and drinks. One-half block off the City Market. $24. A variety of audience participation mysteries that will delight all ages. If you love to laugh than Theatre 99 is the place to go. Friday & Saturday night at 8pm it's Improv Riot. Shows at Theatre 99 are improv parties where audience members laugh until it hurts. Come loaded with suggestions for the quick witted Theatre 99 ensemble members who will take your suggestions…and rock. Tickets $12. On Saturday at 6pm it's a Clean Improv Comedy Show. $8 admission. The world famous Windjammer on the Isle of Palms is rocking this weekend. Greg Payne & The Piedmont Boys W/ Jason Morton & The Chesapeake Sons perform 9pm Friday night. Tickets $10. The Charleston Pourhouse is hopping this weekend. Friday night at the House it's John Papa Gros w/ The Battery Brass Band. $12 adv & $15 dos for 9pm start. The Poho Family Funk Review play the deck for free at 4pm. On Saturday come out for Sideshow Americans + Gm Wagnon's Horse Camp. Tickets $7 for a 9pm start. On the deck Saturday it's the Poho Night Market from 5-9pm with 30 plus vendors, artists, & more. New  this weekend at the box office include 'Overcomer'. High school basketball coach John Harrison and his team face an uncertain future when their town's largest manufacturing plant shuts down unexpectedly. As hundreds of people move away, John reluctantly agrees to coach cross-country, a sport he doesn't even like. His outlook soon changes when he meets Hannah Scott, an unlikely runner who pushes herself to the limit. Inspired by the words and prayers of a new friend, John starts to train Hannah for the biggest race of her young life. Rated PG.
