Seafood-focused Delaney Oyster House Opens Its Doors Today

The Neighborhood Dining Group (Husk, Minero, McCrady’s) on Monday announced the Delaney Oyster House, their newest concept, had opened its doors at 115 Calhoun Street. The restaurant, which occupies a classic Charleston Single House built in the 1830s, features a menu of fresh, sustainable seafood by Executive Chef Shamil Velazquez (formerly of Husk Greenville).

The menu will include an extensive raw bar selection and dishes served in both classic and contemporary preparations. Chef Velazquez plans to work directly with farmers and fisheries to source seafood both locally from the Atlantic and Carolina waterways, as well as several other regions around the world.  While the restaurant intends to pay homage to the classic oyster house, Chef Velazquez will also combine his Puerto Rican upbringing and experience from kitchens across the country to put his own spin on the menu.

In addition to a variety of oysters and shellfish, caviar service rounds out the raw-bar experience. “Cold” and “Not Cold” plates to be shared among tables include Octopus Escabeche with Calabrian Chiles, Chicharrons, & Nasturtium and Salted Fish Beignets with Thyme, Hot Sorghum, & Bonito. Balancing the seafood-centric menu, seasonal vegetable offerings are driven by Lowcountry produce and purveyors. A Hummingbird Cake Drumstick, made in partnership with Charleston’s Wich Cream, is the stand-alone dessert to finish the meal or take on the road. See the full menu here (there's also a kid's menu).

General Manager Kevin King leads the beverage program, which features cocktails, craft beers, and a wine list inspired by marine-influenced terroir from around the world. King designed the Delaney House Martini Program as an ode to the classic drink and its many variants. Rounding out the spirit offerings, the mini-bottle service serves as both a complement to the caviar presentation and also a nod to South Carolina’s history of requiring the use of airplane bottles in restaurants. The wine program focuses on growers and producers from regions either near or influenced by the sea, with sustainable, organic, or biodynamic farming practices at work. In addition to indoor seating, Delaney Oyster House offers both first and second floor piazzas for guests to enjoy an open-air dining experience.

  • Sunday through Thursday
    • 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
    • 4:30 pm – 10 pm
  • Friday through Saturday
    • 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
    • 4:30 pm to 11 pm

Happy Hour will take place Monday – Thursday: 4:30 pm – 6 pm.
