Andrew T. Hsu will be formally installed as the 23rd president of the College of Charleston on Friday, October 25th, 2019.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at 3:30 pm in the Cistern Yard. Representatives from state and local governments, colleges and universities from across the nation, and the CofC community will participate in the inauguration celebration. Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Rafael L. Bras, provost of the Georgia Institute of Technology, and E. Gordon Gee, president of West Virginia University, are among the guests who will speak during the ceremony.

Gary Jackson, assistant professor of English and poetry editor for the literary publication Cazyhorse, will present his new poem “Forward and Back,” which he wrote specifically for Hsu’s inauguration. An ensemble of CofCmusic majors and members of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra will perform “Fanfare of Changes,” an orchestral piece written by composer and former CofC music professor Trevor Weston.

A reception on Rivers Green will immediately follow the ceremony. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend the inauguration and reception.

For those unable to attend the event, you will have an opportunity to participate in the inauguration online. The College will broadcast the ceremony live on its Facebook page  and at cofc.edu.
