Welcome to the Weekend Buzz on Holy City Sinner. Here's what's happening the third full weekend of December 2019. The following is a list of just a few events and happenings you might want to take part in during the weekend. Consider the list a cornucopia of happenings around the Lowcountry of Charleston. Something for everyone. The year heats up with events, so be sure to check the Weekend Buzz out on Holy City Sinner. Thanks! Lots happening in Chuck-town this weekend. If you love comedy, plays, sports, food & festivals, you'll find something to do this weekend. 

Tis the season for lights. The Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park runs Nov 15th thru Dec 31st. Rain or shine events. Sun-Thurs 5:30-10pm, and Fri-Sat 5:30-11pm. More than just a driving tour, they invite you to park your car and explore the vendor village, Santa's Sweet Shoppe, a Victorian Carousel, sand sculptures, visits with Santa, and more. Enjoy the sights on a Holiday Festival of Lights Bus Tour. Join Adventure Sightseeing for a magnificent time at the Charleston Festival of Lights! There are over 700 displays and 2 million lights. Running daily from November 15th through December 31st (with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas). The tour will leave from the Charleston Visitor's Center located at 375 Meeting St. at 5 p.m. Transportation provided in a climate controlled 14-25 passenger bus. For info call 843-762-0088.

The annual Holiday Pub Crawl is back by popular demand! Nov 29 - Jan 10th. This is the BEST way to celebrate the holidays in Charleston with a fun and festive twist, complete with local flare and good cheer! Nothing represents the holiday season better than friends, family, warm cider & spirits, and tables topped with plates of different hors d'oeuvres to enjoy! Based on popular pub crawls in Europe, it's a unique spin on a historic city tour through the oldest pubs and taverns that are often hard to find! The North Charleston Coliseum is busy this weekend. Disney's Broadway hit musical 'The Lion King' begins it's 11 day run at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Performances nightly at 7:30pm with some 2pm matinees on Saturday and 1pm shows on Sundays. Check the website or visit the box office for more. Over at the coliseum your SC Stingrays play host to Greenville Swamp Rabbits 6pm Saturday night and the Jacksonville Icemen 3pm Sunday afternoon. The Charleston Music Hall is busy this weekend. The annual Charleston Christmas Special presented by Brad & Jennifer Moranz begins it's 11 performance run this Friday night at the CMH. Shows nightly at 7pm with 2pm matinees on the weekends. This is the one holiday show that will get you in the mood for Christmas. Fun for the whole family and all ages. This is a must see show. Some shows at CMH offer a  dinner Add On option available for an additional $32. Call for reservations after purchasing. The Charleston Gaillard Center 95 Calhoun St. presents The Ten Tenors in Home for the Holidays 7:30pm Saturday night. They’ll perform a lively mix of holiday favorites featuring everything from Feliz Navidad and O Holy Night to Winter Wonderland and even Bohemian Rhapsody – all given the signature The TEN Tenors treatment, with incredible 10-part harmonies and smooth choreography. On Saturday & Sunday in Marion Square take part in the Holiday Market. The traditional Charleston Farmer's Market ends on Nov. 30, but have no fear, because they'll be back for three weekends in December with a special Holiday Market. Open Sat & Sun 8-2pm for three weekends.

On Saturday join a Lowcountry holiday tradition, the Charleston Holiday Boat Parade, as this display of lighted and festive boats proceeds from the Cooper River, through the Charleston Harbor and into the Ashley River, culminating in a brilliant fireworks display over the harbor. This family-friendly event is sure to become a holiday tradition for everyone. The festivities begin along the shores of Mount Pleasant at 5:00 p.m. and viewing from the downtown peninsula starts around 7:30 p.m. Event is free to the public.

On Sunday 2-5pm the Riverdogs present Charlie Claus Featuring The Muppet Christmas Carol. The movie begins at 3pm. Admission is $5 or FREE with an unopened toy donation. Benefitting the Salvation Army Angel Tree Charleston.

Come enjoy the Sound of Charleston this Friday at 7pm.  Shows Dec 13th, 20th, 23rd, 26th, & 30th. Come and experience the music that helps define Charleston’s history…gospel, Gershwin, Civil War, jazz, and light classics….in live concerts at historic Circular Congregational Church 150 Meeting Street. The all new Holy City Magic host a variety of entertainment options. World renowned talent will be performing for audiences in the Holy City at their beautifully unique venue. The Alley 131 Columbus St. host their College Football Game of the Week this Saturday. Join them for all the big games this season + the biggest game every Saturday. The Summerville Farmers Market brings local farmers, artisans, food trucks with live music to the historic downtown. The weekly event runs every Saturday from April to November. 8AM-1PM. Located behind Town Hall in historic downtown.

Shop the Charleston Farmers Market. Every SATURDAY 8-2pm, Marion Square becomes the meeting place for visitors and locals alike to enjoy fresh local produce, made-to-order brunch, packaged food products, artisans & crafters, live music, community groups, jump castles and more!

The Charleston City Night Market is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from March - December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 - 10:30pm and is a free event that is open to the public. Enjoy live entertainment and a festive atmosphere. You'll love being outdoors at twilight and strolling through our three block-long market. All vendors are 100% local with 100% locally-made items for sale. On Saturday thru Dec 28th visit the Lowcountry's Farmer's Market at Tanger Outlet in North Charleston. The market offers 40 rotating local vendors, farmers and food trucks each and every week. Along with Live Music, tables and a dedicated kids zone this market has a little something for everyone. After you are finished shopping your local artisans go inside Tanger Outlets and shop over 80 national brands to complete your shopping experience.

Car enthusiasts enjoy Mt. P Cars & Coffee every Saturday morning 8-11am at Mount Pleasant Towne Center in the Barnes & Noble parking lot.

Woolfe Street Playhouse 34 Woolfe Street, and Village Rep. present All is Calm- The Christmas Truce of 1914. The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, peace. Charleston Stage at Dock Street Theatre present Elf The Musical with weekend shows running thru Dec 22. Based on the beloved and hilarious 2003 Will Ferrell film, Elf The Musical tells the story of Buddy who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Raised as an elf and unaware that he is actually a human, Buddy realizes he is different when he grows up to tower over the other elves and finds that he is a disastrous toymaker. On Saturday Dec 14th & 21st Charleston Stage host The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. When the Herdmans, the worst kids in town, somehow wrangle the leading roles in the local Christmas Pageant it seems everything that is sacred will be lost. Yet, through this motley crew of rough and tumble kids, the true meaning of Christmas is movingly rediscovered. Shows 10am. Tickets $31.

Charleston Theater Co. & Threshold Rep present Della's Diner, a country musical comedy soap opera. Home cooking, cornball humor, and a dash of social significance furnish the principal ingredients of this folksy country musical. ''Blue Plate Special'' spoofs a Tennessee-style soap opera as it spins a tale about Della Juracko, her mixed-up relationships, and the threatened future of her diner. Weekend shows Dec 6-22. Footlight Players 20 Queen Street present She Loves Me, a euphoric romantic comedy with a soaring score. Amalia and Georg work together at a modest Hungarian parfumerie and have disliked each other from the very beginning. But each rapturously writes to a lonely hearts pen pal when the work day is done, and it doesn’t take long for the audience to see that they’re in love without realizing it. Weeknights Dec 6-22. Flowertown Players in Summerville present the southern fried holiday comedy 'Doublewide Texas Christmas'. Doublewide, Texas (population: 10) is the newest, smallest town in the Lone Star State, and the most wonderful time of the year is rapidly becoming the most stressful. After being double-crossed by the county and having their township papers put in jeopardy, the residents of Doublewide look to prove their legitimacy by winning the county-wide “Battle of the Mangers” competition with their “Nativity at the Alamo” display. What If? Productions host another WIP Piano Bar Series presenting Carol of the Belles with several area performances. 34 West Theatre Co. at 200 Meeting Street present 'It's Christmas Babe!'. With music from The Kinks to the Monkees, comes an exuberant new comedy set in a 1960’s department store, featuring co-founders Jeff Querin and Stephen Wayne! The Black Fedora 164 Church Street downtown, offers clean comic whodunit shows most evenings, featuring volunteer audience participation and a la carte appetizers, desserts, and drinks. One-half block off the City Market. $24. A variety of audience participation mysteries that will delight all ages. Among the shows being offered up include 'Sherlock's Other Brother by a Southern Mother', 'Murder Aboard the Starship Fed Ora', 'Inspector NoClue's Murder Mystery', and 'Church Street Daughters of the Late Unpleasantness Garden, Gun, and Gin Club'. The Black Fedora add a holiday show to their menu for December. 'We Three Thieves', We three thieves disoriented are! Who among us hasn’t had our best-laid holiday plans go awry? We travel moor and mountain to make merry, but then the cookies burn, the cat knocks over the tree and some chump steals the jewel we stole first. If you love to laugh than Theatre 99 is the place to go. Friday night it's Improv Smackdown. 50% game show! 50% sporting event! 100% good times! That’s Improv Smackdown in a nutshell. It’s the hit improv show at Theatre 99 where you, the audience, are the judge! It’s hilarious, exciting and based entirely on your audience suggestions. $12 admission. The world famous Windjammer on the Isle of Palms is rocking this weekend. Friday night come out to help raise money for a Samantha Alvarez Benefit Concert. The Charleston Pourhouse is hopping this weekend. Friday night the Poho Ho-Ho Family Christmas present Little Stranger, White Bogan Duo’s Acid Christmas, & Sexbruise? Tickets $20 for 9pm show. The Poho Family Funk Revue play the deck at 6pm. On Saturday night Rebirth Brass Band perform on the main stage. $20 for 9:30pm show. Saturday during the day it's PoHoHo Holiday Night Market. New  this weekend at the box office include 'Jumanji: The Next Level'. The gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect.
