Going Places Encourages Kids to Start Virtual Fundraisers

Local nonprofit Going Places is inviting kids to become part of their "Joy Outreach Team, Juniors Edition.” Children can create a virtual fundraiser where they will raise money for future Going Places bike reveals.

Kids will be able to raise money for Going Places while the organization partners with Biggby Coffee North Charleston on May 1st to spread a little Joy to the doctors and nurses on the front lines battling COVID-19 at MUSC Health.

Going Places will provide a photo and home-made card from the children to the staff at MUSC along with their coffee.

How can your kid(s) raise money? Some fundraising examples include:

  1. Donations/pledge for each push-up completed
  2. Donations/pledges for riding their bike a certain distance each day
  3. Donations/pledges for jumping rope
  4. Donations for home-made art the child can mail out
  5. Donations to attend a virtual performance the child may want to put on

To create a virtual fundraiser, visit: https://charity.gofundme.com/GoingPlace and click "start a campaign." Email [email protected] with any questions. Fundraising ends on April 30th.

About Going Places

Going Places’ mission is to provide disadvantaged kids with their most basic childhood right- A right to Joy. They do that by surprising every child in the low-income, high-poverty elementary schools with a brand new, high quality, custom bike. This bike represents Joy, freedom, escape, ownership, and restored innocence in these children’s lives. By the beginning of June, Going Places will have given 2060 bikes to disadvantaged kids in 3 years time. Going Places is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
