Personal finance website WalletHub this week released a report on "2020's Best & Worst Cities for First-Time Home Buyers" and Charleston ranked as being the 9th best.
To determine the most favorable housing markets for first-time buyers, WalletHub took the pulse of real estate in 300 cities of varying sizes using 26 key metrics. The data set ranges from housing affordability to real-estate tax rate to property-crime rate.
Buying a First Home in Charleston (1=Best; 150=Avg.):
- 140th – Housing Affordability
- 7th – Real-Estate Tax Rate
- 96th – Cost of Living
- 115th – Rent-to-Price Ratio
- 82nd – Property-Crime Rate
Charleston ranks No. 22 overall and No. 9 among small cities.
