Trident United Way Celebrates Read Across America Day

Trident United Way recently partnered with schools across the Tri-County for the annual Read Across America Day.
The celebration looked a little different this year as volunteers used online streaming technology to read to the kids remotely. The effort included speaking to kids in 42 classrooms with nearly 40 volunteer readers.
While the experience was different, both kids and volunteer readers report having a fun time being exposed to new books and voices in the community.
Special guest readers helped spread the word, including Live 5’s morning team of Michal Higdon (right), Abbey O’Brien, and Rob Way, as well as Anne Emerson from ABC News 4, and WCBD News 2 anchor Sofia deSaussure.
