How Charleston Locals Can Show Support During The Month of The Military Child

April is The Month of the Military Child, so here are a few ways Charleston locals can help support children throughout the month (and year).
The national nonprofit SEALKIDS serves the children of Navy SEALs and they have created local Charleston partnerships with Home Team BBQ and The Brewlab that will be going on throughout the month.
Here’s how you can help:
SEAL families make a huge sacrifice when a member of the family decides to be a SEAL. SEALS are away in training or on unimaginable missions for up to nine months a year. The time away from home leaves an inevitable gap in the household that needs to be addressed.
SEALKIDS founder Suzanne Vogel and her two children recognized the intense family stressors placed on SEALS and their children, so they created SEALKIDS. It is the only nonprofit organization solely dedicated to children’s academic success in the Navy SEAL community. By providing targeted and immediate academic interventions, SEALKIDS critically reduces family stress and helps keep today’s Navy SEAL in the fight.
Because every family has its own unique needs, SEALKIDS creates personalized services plans for each child that they serve. SEALKIDS served over 300 families in 2020 and plans on serving even more in 2021. You can learn more at www.sealkids.org.
